Smart Watches are going to be a big thing. Whether it happens later this year or in 2014, that can be debated, but there’s no denying that everyone and anyone will be releasing devices that strap to your wrist and connect to your smartphone. Case in point, the Dutch website Galaxy Club discovered a trademark filing for a device known as “Galaxy Gear”. That in it of itself isn’t interesting. The product description on the other hand, check it out.
“Wearable digital electronic device in the form of a wristwatch, wrist band or bangle capable of providing access to the Internet and for sending and receiving phone calls, electronic mails and messages.”
Like I said earlier, the key question is when. Some rumors suggest we’ll hear about the Galaxy Gear as early as IFA, which takes place during the first week of September. While it’s certainly possible, I’m quite skeptical.
Also, you have to remember with Samsung, their first generation products are rarely worth buying. No one got the Galaxy S, everyone got the Galaxy S II. No one got the Galaxy Camera, people love the GS4 Zoom. No one got the Note I, meanwhile Samsung can’t make the Note II fast enough.
Sure hope I’m wrong about the Gear.
