Remember the first time you saw Motorola’s RAZR? I do. Waiting for a taxi in Las Vegas during CES, the guy in front of me, I think he was an ATI employee, made a phone call on a device that, at the time, I thought was the most gorgeous looking mobile phone to ever be mass produced. Later I’d find out the software was total garbage, but man, that RAZR sure made a wonderful first impression.

It’s hard to believe that flip phones were ever popular, but they were. Some people remember how much hell Nokia got from investors for being late in the game to the whole clamshell market, but that’s another topic for another day.

What I want to talk about is Android. Can you conceivably put Android on a flip phone and make it run well? According to the Korean site DDaily, we’ll find out next month. An unnamed Samsung official says the “Galaxy Folder” will come out in August with 4G LTE and Android in a flip form factor.

The Japanese site Blog of Mobile says the phone will have an 800 x 480 pixel display and a dual core Snapdragon S4 from Qualcomm. That’s all they know, that and the model number: SHV-E400S/K.
