Samsung’s Galaxy portfolio is never “big enough”, and I’m expecting the company to announce a successor to the hugely popular Ace II (pictured above) at some point this year. The device, which I assume will be called the Ace III, was just spotted by The Droid Guy in the GLBenchmark database. At least that’s what he thinks. All that exists right now is a model number: GT-S7272.
The benchmark itself provides a handful of specifications. First, the screen will come in at 800 x 480 pixels, which isn’t too surprising considering that’s what the Ace II shipped with. Two, the processor is going to be provided by Broadcom, which again, isn’t a revelation when you look at the recently announced Galaxy Grand and Galaxy S II Plus.
What about the camera? The Ace II had a 5 megapixel shooter, so the Ace III will probably either maintain the same number of pixels or move to a higher 8 megapixel sensor.
Doesn’t this phone basically sound like a Galaxy S3 Mini? Assuming the Ace III has a 4 inch display, then yes, it’ll have practically the exact same specs as the miniature GS3.
When will this thing be announced and how much will it cost? Rumors say late May or early June, with a 300 EUR price tag. That’s extremely confusing to me since the GS3 Mini is already on store shelves, it has the exact same specs, and if you know how to hunt for deals, then you can find one for roughly 250 EUR.
