Reports coming out of China indicate that workers at Foxconn are working overtime to ensure that there will be no shortage of the Xiaomi Mi 5 when it is launched in China next month.
The Mi 5 has been rumored to launch since last year, but Xiaomi postponed the launch fo the handset due to the heating issues with the Snapdragon 810 chipset. While the Mi 5 is not going to be the first handset that will be announced with a Snapdragon 820 chipset, there is a strong possibility that it will be the first device to actually go on sale with Qualcomm’s latest and greatest chipset.
The report from China claims that Foxconn has even hanged banners at its factories in China which read “Guarantee to supply Mi5, strive to deliver the highest quality.”
Xiaomi executives have already confirmed that the Mi 5 has entered into mass production and will be released sometime after the Chinese New Year, so there is little reason to doubt this report. With sales of Xiaomi handsets plummeting, a lot rests on the Mi 5 for the company.
Leaks have indicated that the Mi 5 will come with a Snapdragon 820 chipset, 3/4GB RAM, 16/64GB storage space, a 16MP rear shooter, fingerprint sensor, a 5.2-inch Quad HD display and a gigantic 3,600mAh battery.
