Earlier this year, news broke that some of the senior executives at HTC have been involved in trading the companies secret for their benefit. This included the company’s (now) ex-designer, Thomas Chien, leaking screenshots of Sense 6.0 to future business partners, with whom he was going to form a new company.

Chien and some other senior officials, including the former VP of design — Jane Chi Lin Wu — were also responsible for stealing up to US$1.12 from HTC on behalf of false design expenses. Well, these folks have now been prosecuted by the Taipei District office, after it concluded its investigation into the matter.

While most of the accused accepted their crime, Chien did not accept his wrong doings which let the prosecutors to advise the court to offer a harsh sentence for him.

HTC has had a miserable 2013, even though it released one of the most critically acclaimed handset of this year — the HTC One. It’s falling market share, low sales figure and camera issues on the One did not help matter much either.

Here is hoping that HTC is able to hold itself together in these tough times and does not fall apart. After all, we surely don’t want to use Samsung’s plastic infested Galaxy phones for the rest of our life?
