Tomorrow, Google is hosting an event in India where it will be unveiling the first batch of Android One devices. However, Flipkart — one of the largest online retailer in India — had jumped the gun and accidentally made the listing of one of the Android One handsets live on its website.
The now pulled listing was for an Android One handset from Spice with a price tag of Rs. 6, 999 (or roughly $115). The handset, dubbed the Spice Android One Dream UNO Mi-498, will come with a 4.5-inch FWVGA (854 x 480) resolution display, a 1.3GHz quad-core processor from MediaTek, an ARM Mali GPU and 1GB of RAM.
Other specs of the handset include a 5MP rear camera, a 2MP front facing camera, and the ability to record videos in Full HD (1080p) resolution. What makes this seemingly low-end phone special is the software — as it will be running on a bone-stock version of Android and will be receiving direct OTA updates from Google itself.
If leaks and rumors are to be believed, Google will be launching three Android One based smartphones tomorrow from Karbonn, Spice and Micromax, and each of them will be sold exclusively on Amazon, Snapdeal and Flipkart, exclusively.
