Welcome to today’s edition of AndroidBeat’s daily briefing where we talk about the Essential Phone getting an update to improve its camera performance and missing texts issue on the Galaxy S8.
Essential Phone Update Improves Camera Performance
While the Essential Phone has received largely positive reviews from the media, its camera has been heavily criticised for its sub-par performance. Essential had rolled out a couple of updates to its camera app to improve performance, but with today’s software update, the company is taking its biggest step yet. The update will eliminate shutter lag for one-off shots on the Essential Phone, improve quality of low-light photos, and bring about overall improvements to image quality.
Essential also revealed that it is working on improving the camera app on the phone by adding a Pro mode to it along with the ability to stream directly to Facebook and Periscope.
Text messages missing for Galaxy S8 Owners in the US
Galaxy S8 owners in the United States are complaining about not receiving text messages sent to them. In some cases, users are only receiving partial text messages sent to them. The issue affects both the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ and across all major carriers in the United States. The issue is not related to Samsung’s stock messaging app since it persists while using other third-party messaging apps as well.
Use Google Home To Find Your Phone
As announced by Google at its Made By Google event earlier this week, you can now use your Google Home to find your phone. The company has now rolled out the feature for all Google Home users. Simply say “Ok Google” followed by “Find my phone” to find your Android phone.
Do you own an Essential Phone? How satisfied are you with its camera performance post the update?
