In March of this year, Verizon refreshed the color options for the Droid Turbo, after launching the handset not too long before that.
And now that the year anniversary is coming up on the original Turbo, it’s not surprising that reports are starting to surface that a successor might be on the way. According to a tweet from Evan Blass, also known as @evleaks, he’s heard of two new Droid-branded handsets coming down the pipeline for Verizon Wireless.
So now I'm hearing that there are going to be both a MAXX 2 as well as a Turbo 2.

The first of which is the Droid “MAXX 2,” which would be a follow-up to the original DROID MAXX that had a primary focus on the huge battery inside. The second handset would be the aforementioned followup to the Turbo, the Turbo 2. Unfortunately, Verizon hasn’t opened up about any new Droid-branded handsets just yet, but they did drop a hint recently to PCMag.
According to Sascha Segan, Verizon recently commented that they plan on continuing ahead with the Droid brand, and that they’ll have more to talk about the brand at some point later this year. While it’s not a clear indication that more devices are coming, let alone two sequels, considering the popularity of the Droid name, it would be hard to see Verizon dropping it altogether.
