The Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the OnePlus One is still a month or two away at the very minimum with the company promising to update the handset within 90 days. However, with Google pushing out the source code of Android 5.0 Lollipop to AOSP last week, the CyanogenMod team immediately got to work on getting Lollipop to work on the OnePlus One.
While the team has not released a Lollipop build, some advanced developers and users have managed to compile a working Android 5.0 ROM for the One from their sources. Even though the file name consists of words like “CM12” and “UNOFFICIAL,” it does not contain any of the CyanogenMod that we have come to love and is essentially a stock AOSP build of Lollipop for the OnePlus One. While the build is stable enough for daily use, the NFC and Bluetooth functionality are currently broken. There are a few other minor issues as well but none of them should affect day-to-day usage.
The build is available in a factory image flashable format, which means installing it will wipe the device of all your data. Nevertheless, if these issues are not a deal breaker for you, head over to this link to download the files and the appropriate Google Apps.
