Last week, Google announced a re-designed Gmail for the web and Android. While the web version of Gmail has been slowly rolling out to users all over the world, the new Gmail app was nowhere to be seen. Google’s press release stated that the update should roll out within a week or so.
It looks like Google has finally started rolling out the Gmail update for Android users starting from today. The Play Store listing of the app already shows the updated change-log, but thanks to the phased roll-out, won’t be available to all Android users around the globe instantly. The new Gmail update includes not only a completely re-designed UI, but also categorisation of emails depending on their content, and pull-to-refresh!
If you cannot wait for the update to be rolled out to you, simply download this APK and install it manually. The APK should work on all Android devices running Ice Cream Sandwich or above.
