When the Galaxy S5 was released, Samsung was widely praised for pushing the display performance on the handset so far. In tests conducted by various websites, the AMOLED display Galaxy S5 performed admirably in nearly all the departments with great brightness and color accuracy levels and was even crowned as the Best Smartphone display.

Now, if the tests conducted by DisplayMate on the Galaxy Note 4 are to be believed, Samsung has once again managed to push the AMOLED display performance to a new high. 

According to their tests, the “most impressive improvements” on the AMOLED display of the Galaxy Note 4 are in the pixels per inch and resolution, the Absolutely Color Accuracy, Peak Brightness, screen viewability in High Ambient Light and Display Power efficiency departments.

The pixels per inch and resolution improvement is understandable since the Galaxy Note 4’s AMOLED display boasts a Quad HD (2560 x 1440) resolution. The site also praised Samsung for providing multiple screen modes on the Note 4 with different Color Gamuts and color saturation to suit the needs of a wide array of users.

On the brightness side, the Galaxy Note 4’s AMOLED display can go as bright as up to 400 nits in manual mode, which is comparable to displays of the same size. Under Automatic Brightness mode though, the Note 4’s display can reach a brightness level of up to 750 nits. Even the minimum brightness levels of the display is an impressively low 2 nits.

The Reflectance score of 4.8% indicates that the Note 4’s display will be clearly visible even under direct sunlight without the need for the user to squint their eyes.

Surprisingly, and what is even more impressive is that even with all these improvements and a huge jump in resolution, the AMOLED display on the Galaxy Note 4 is 14% more efficient than the one on the Note 3.
