DisplayMate is one of the go-to sources for display testing, especially when it comes to smartphones, and the publication has teased quite the honor for Google’s newest, and biggest, smartphone.
Google officially unveiled the Pixel 3 XL (and Pixel 3) earlier today, debuting the company’s biggest smartphone display to date. It’s an OLED panel again, just as Google used last year with the Pixel 2 XL, and it rightfully got people wondering how the quality would hold up this year when compared to last year’s effort. The Pixel 2 XL was maligned with poor reception for its display quality, and while Google fixed that in the months post launch, it’s certainly still a sore spot for the company.
Fast forward to today and DisplayMate has tweeted out that the Pixel 3 XL’s OLED panel is one of the best it has tested to date, earning the publication’s “highest A+ rating” for its panel. The testing also earned the upcoming smartphone, which launches on October 18, a “Best Smartphone Display” award for good measure.
The publication will publish its in-depth review on October 15.
Does this particular bit of news get you excited for Google’s upcoming flagship?
