There is little doubt that the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge cameras are among the best in the smartphone market currently. Even the camera app on the phone are straightforward and fast to use.

However, one minor gripe that I have with the camera app on the S6 and S6 edge is that it lacks the option to mute the shutter sound. Now, I know that silencing the camera shutter sound is illegal in some countries, but Samsung should have included an option in its camera app for users who want to turn it off.

While putting the Galaxy S6 in silent mode will disable the camera shutter sound, it is quite cumbersome for users to first put the phone in silent mode then launch the camera app and click pictures, and then again out the phone back to normal mode after exiting the camera app.

Thankfully, an app called SilentCam Switch makes it easy for Galaxy S6 and S6 edge owners to disable the camera shutter sound on their device. The app’s premise is actually very simple. It will automatically put your S6 or S6 edge into silent mode when the camera app is launched, and then again put the phone back into normal once the user exists the camera app.

Step 1:  Download SilentCam Switch from the Google Play Store. Then start the app and accept its terms and conditions.

Step 2: Tap on the ‘App is disabled’ button and then provide data access to SilentCam.

And that’s it. Next time you click a photo from your Galaxy S6, the shutter sound will be automatically disabled.
