In a couple of months from now, we will see HTC and Samsung release their flagship handsets for 2014. Not much is known about these devices and whatever is floating around the Internet is just baseless rumours. While we have seen quite the specs of the HTC M8, the One’s successor, leak a few time, nothing was concrete.

Today, an Android developer –mike — known for leaking information about upcoming HTC products and updates has provided some information about the One’s successor.

According to mike, the M8 will be known as the HTC One+ (ugh!) and it won’t feature any capacitive buttons. Instead, the device will make use of on-screen navigation buttons as seen on Nexus devices from Google. If true, this news should please a lot of potential M8 owners. The device will sport a 5-inch 1080p LCD with and will be protected by Gorilla Glass 3.

On the chipset side, the M8 should come with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805 chipset, provided driver issues from Qualcomm does not push back the release date of the device. The ‘UltraPixel’ camera would either be 6MP or 8MP and will be accompanied with ImageSense 3 chip from HTC.

Other specs of the M8 include a 2900mAh battery, NFC, a microSD card slot (surprise surprise!), front-facing BoomSound speakers and a 2.1MP front camera. On the software side, the M8 will be running the latest version of Android — KitKat — with Sense 6.0 on top of it.

Keep in mind that the M8 is still in testing and the above specs have not been finalized, so they might change anytime. Hopefully, HTC will manage to surprise us with some unique features on the M8 like it did with the One back in February last year.
