One of the members of the CyanogenMod team today teased Gello — a browser based on the open source code of Chromium.

The teaser video from Joey Rizzoli does not reveal much about the browser, except for giving us a glimpse at its UI and a few of its features including the advanced download manager, a Night mode, Edge Swipe gesture, advanced per-site permissions control, a power saving mode and a offline reading list.

There are plenty of browsers available for Android on the Google Play Store already, so it will be interesting to see what benefits CyanogenMod’s Gello offers over them.

It is entirely possible that once Gello reaches a certain point of stability, it might as well make the jump to Cyanogen OS 12 — the closed source version of CyanogenMod that is found on devices like the OnePlus One, Yu Yuphoria and others.
