The CyanogenMod team has unearthed an upcoming notification mode in AOSP known as ‘Heads Up’ and included it in their daily round of nightly builds. Heads Up in a nutshell is a lot like Paranoid Android’s Hover feature.
It displays floating notifications over your current activity, just like on iOS 7, with the ability to interact with them as well.
The CyanogenMod team has further enhanced this feature by adding a Do not disturb filter to it, allowing users to blacklist certain apps and games from interrupting you with their notifications.
If you are eager to try out this feature, simply head over to CyanogenMod’s download page to grab the latest nightly for your device. If stability is your prime concern, you could wait for the next Milestone release from the CM team scheduled to arrive early next month.
Since the feature was found in AOSP, it is now all but confirmed that Google would be bringing this feature to Android with its next release down the line.
