Own a Galaxy S5 and tired of waiting for Samsung to roll out the Marshmallow update for the handset? Worry not as the Cyanogen team has you covered. The team has started rolling out the official CM13 nightlies based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow for the handset.
For now, the nightlies only support the GSM variant of the Galaxy S5. CDMA variants like the one from Sprint, US Cellular and Verizon are incompatible, and so is the AT&T variant. The Australian variant of the Galaxy S5 and the S5 Duos are also supported.
Early CM13 nightlies for the GSM variant of the Galaxy S4 are also available for download.
Now keep in mind that being a nightly release, these builds are bound to have some stability issues. They are not really up to the daily driver level right now, but a few weeks down the line, they should be.
As a bonus, flashing CyanogenMod will allow you to taste an unadulterated version of Marshmallow on your Galaxy S5 and S4 — a version that is free from TouchWiz.
If you are unsure of how to install CyanogenMod 13 on your Galaxy S5, follow these steps. Your device obviously needs to be rooted with a custom recovery like TWRP installed though.
You can download the CyanogenMod 13 nightlies for the Galaxy S5 and S4 from below. The downloads are listed under the codename “klte” for the Galaxy S5 and “jfltexx” for the Galaxy S4.
