Remember the new theme chooser in CyanogenMod 11S running on the OnePlus One? Well, it has now made its way to the latest CyanogenMod 11 nightlies.
The new theme engine sports a modern UI and is a big step up in the customisation department compared to the previous version.
Wondering what all aspects of the OS can you customise using this new theme chooser? Just about anything including the fonts, icons, wallpapers, lock screen wallpaper, boot animation and sound packs. The previous theme engine only allowed limited customisation and changed some of the system background and icons. The new theme chooser, however, is much more powerful and allows the user to completely change the look of their Android device using themes.
Even though the new theme engine is a major overhaul, the CyanogenMod team has managed to keep compatibility with the previous themes intact, which can now be found under the ‘Styles’ section.
For theme developers, the CyanogenMod team will soon be publishing an Eclipse template to help them in creating new themes.
