The CyanogenMod team, today, released the first M1 build of CM11 – based on Android 4.4 KitKat – for all the actively AOSP-supported Nexus devices (Nexus 5, 4, 7 and 10). This is the first time that the CyanogenMod team has released a Milestone build of their ROM for only a specific set of devices without rolling out official nightlies for them.

The CM team is making this change since the AOSP-supported Nexus devices will have almost no issues with the code at the hardware level, since it comes directly from Google. The team has also tested these devices to make sure that there are no stability issues and that the devices behave normally. This will allow the CyanogenMod team to accept bug reports from CM11 M1 users on Nexus devices, since any bug in this build will be due to modifications introduced by them.

This should allow the CyanogenMod team to acknowledge and fix bugs faster, thereby providing a much more bug-free experience to all the CM11 users. Head over to the CyanogenMod download page to grab the M1 edition of CM11 for your Nexus device(s).

As for the CM11 nightlies for non-Nexus devices, the team is already working hard on the device tree for all the supported devices and will — hopefully — start rolling them out from the end of this week.
