Motorola will be unveiling its new products later today after it held a private media briefing yesterday. However, its devices — the new Moto X and the G2 — have leaked on the Internet over the last few hours revealing their complete specs.
First in line is the Moto G2, which looks exactly like its predecessor, though that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The handset will be coming with a bigger 5-inch 720p display and sport front-facing stereo speakers. The camera on the device has also been bumped to 8MP along with the inclusion of a microSD card slot.
The full specs of the Moto G2 as listed on a german retailer’s website are as follows:
- 5-inch 720p HD TFT display
- 1.2GHz quad-core processor
- Adreno 305 GPU running at 450MHz
- 1GB RAM
- 8GB internal storage
- microSD card slot
- Front-facing stereo speakers
- microUSB 2.0
- 2070mAH battery
- Android 4.4.4 KitKat
The retailer also lists the full specifications of the Moto X+1, though it lists it as the “Moto X (2nd generation)” and not by its former name, which is what the device was being referred to by everyone all this time.
Either ways, the specs of Moto’s upcoming flagship are as follows:
- 5.2-inch Super AMOLED 1080p display
- Snapdragon 801 clocked at 2.5GHz
- Adreno 330 GPU
- 2GB RAM
- 16GB internal storage
- 13MP rear camera
- 2MP front facing camera
- A solo speaker on the bottom front
- 2300mAh battery
- Android 4.4.4 KitKat
If true, the most worrying part about the new Moto X is its paltry 2300mAh battery. While Motorola can always optimize their software to squeeze the maximum juice from the battery, 2300mAh still sounds an awfully low capacity for a handset with a 5200mAh battery. For comparison’s sake, the Galaxy S5 with its 5.1-inch screen and the HTC One M8 with its 5-inch display feature a 2800mAh and 2600mAh battery, respectively.
Here’s hoping that the German retailer is wrong about the Moto X battery specification or Motorola has some trick up its sleeve to deliver outstanding battery life on the new Moto X.
