The OnePlus One comes with CyanogenMod’s own CameraNext app that packs features like Clear Image, slow-mo video recording and more. However, compared to camera apps from other OEMs, CameraNext is cumbersome and slow to use, which ultimately leads to a poor camera experience on the One.
While there are plenty of third-party camera apps available on the Google Play Store, none of them deliver an optimal experience like OEM camera apps. Thankfully for OnePlus One owners, XDA member BOOTMGR has ported the ColorOS camera app to the handset that greatly improves the overall camera experience on it.
The app can be installed without root access and offers features like 4K video recording, burst mode, HDR and slow-motion recording, and more.
With the plugins bundled with the app, OnePlus One owners will also be able to shoot 50MP images through their handset — a feature that Oppo heavily marketed at the launch of the Find 7 last year. Other modes that are activated through the plugins include Slow Shutter, Double Exposure, After Focus, Beauty, Expert, Auto Panorama and more.
In addition, the app will also users to manually play around with the ISO, Saturation, White Balance and other image settings — something which even the CameraNext app on CyanogenMod 11S lacks.
The ColorOS camera app and its companion plugins can be installed on the OnePlus One just like any other APK. As reported by many on XDA forums, the app also seems to work just fine on CM12 nightlies without any stability issues.
