A few weeks ago we reported that the latest Google Chrome Dev for Android had the merge tabs and apps for multi-tasking option removed from it. Now Google is removing the feature from Chrome Beta for Android.

The merge tabs and apps option was a feature that had not taken too well with users. Launched with the idea of making the multi-tasking process on Android much smoother, the option displayed Chrome tabs as individual cards in the app switcher. It was subsequently castigated for being confusing and irksome for that very reason.

Initially however, in hopes of refining the feature or otherwise, Google had the feature present in its updates. In the past Google did give the option toggling the feature and having it turned off. Nonetheless, the feature is now no longer present in version 51 of Chrome Beta.

Having seen this option disappear from Chrome Dev and now Chrome Beta, it is very likely that the feature would be removed from the upcoming stable version of Chrome as well.
