The Chrome team over at Google today announced the launch of Chrome 49 for Android. The latest version of the browser comes with “more than a barge full of performance and stability fixes.”

To break that down, Chrome 49 features improved background sync with a new Background Sync API that will allow sites to automatically schedule a sync, improved javascript performance, a new API for recording audio and audio, notification support from nearby smart beacons and more. This functionality was added to Chrome for iOS in a previous update from Google, so the Android version of the browser was lagging behind in this regard.

In addition, the Chrome team has fixed some vulnerabilities with Chrome’s V8 engine that should make it safer than before.

Chrome 49 for Android is already live on the Google Play Store. If the update is not live on your device though, you can always sideload it by grabbing the APK from here.
