The OnePlus X - ambient notifications

Yesterday, due to an email being sent out by OnePlus, it was assumed that the OnePlus X had seen the last of it’s days and was quietly and respectfully taking a bow. That seems to be partially true, with OnePlus confirming that thus far, only the champagne colour has been sold out, while the handset will continue to be available in black and onyx.

What this means is that production for the OnePlus X had ended, however, stocks are still available, at least for the two remaining colours. Since there is not going to be a OnePlus X2, this will probably be the last we see of a compact budget device from OnePlus for a while.

Confirming the status of the stock, OnePlus released the following statement to Android Authority earlier today thus giving much needed clarification to the stock situation of the OnePlus X and the future for that device.

We will have limited stock of the OnePlus X Ceramic and Onyx available over the next few months. The OnePlus X Champagne has already sold out and will not be replenished. Stay tuned to our forums for updates, and rest assured that we will continue supporting the OnePlus X as we do all of our other phones.

So for those who have been undecided regarding the OnePlus X, this might just be the last chance to buy the device, before the remaining colours run out. Since there is no figure on the remaining stocks, you might just want to put some haste behind that decision.

The guarantee of continued support does gives some relief, and though OnePlus might not have the best after-sales support, it does roll out updates to it’s devices in a timely fashion. So do expect the OnePlus X to still be receiving product support for a while after stocks run out.

Would you still purchase a OnePlus X or would you rather wait with fingers crossed and hope that against all odds, a OnePlus X2 finds its way into the market?
