At I/O, Google announced that it will soon be allowing users to natively cast the screen of their Android device to their TVs via a Chromecast. Today, the company has started rolling out the feature for all Android and Chromecast users.

The feature will work on a selected few Android devices mentioned below but they must be running Android 4.4.1 or higher.

    • Nexus 4
    • Nexus 5
    • Nexus 7 (2013)
    • Nexus 10
    • HTC One (M7)
    • Samsung Galaxy S4
    • Samsung Galaxy S5
    • Samsung Galaxy Note 3
    • Samsung Galaxy Note 10
    • LG G Pro 2
    • LG G2
    • LG G3

Users should notice a new Cast Screen tile in Quick Settings, which they can use to beam the device screen as well as the audio to their TV screens. Alternatively, they can also use the Chromecast app, which has been updated today with the option to Cast Screen to any connected Chromecasts.

Right now, the feature is in beta so expect a few glitches. In my quick test using the Nexus 7, the mirroring was fine but the scrolling was a bit choppy. If you don’t see the feature on your Android device right away, don’t worry as Google says the roll out will take a few days to complete.
