BMW’s Designworks is the team responsible for futuristic concepts and innovations that set new standards in the industries that it is involved in. Starting with the BMW GINA concept vehicle to even designing Singapore Airlines’s fleet of Boeing 777-300ER’s First Class cabins. Recently they made headlines for their community contribution efforts by designing the US Paralympic Team’s racing wheelchair. Now the same company is bringing its innovative design ideas to the ZTE Axon 7.
ZTE has made rapid progress in establishing itself as a low-cost handset manufacturer who packs decent specs into the devices, an image that has left its flagship device line to suffer with sub-par sales. In a bid to reposition itself and be seen as a much more serious company, ZTE has teamed up with BMW’s Designworks in designing the Axon 7 — a premium flagship device.
Not relying solely on the Designworks branding to help boost sales, ZTE has also packed the phone with specifications that can make industry leaders like Samsung and Sony uncomfortable about their devices future. Based on the specs released by TEENA (China’s certification agency) when the Axon 7 passed through for testing, the device comes with a Snapdragon 820 SoC, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, a 20MP rear shooter and a 8MP selfie camera. It is also said to pack a 3140mAh battery that lights up a 5.5 inch QHD screen and runs Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box. The handset also seems to pack front facing speakers and a rear fingerprint scanner.
Though a price point has yet to be released, going by ZTE’s pricing history, the phone will severely undercut the likes of devices such as the Galaxy S7.
The Axon 7 by ZTE will be unveiled on 26th May, until then, let us know what you think about the device?
