BLU VivoX1 official

BLU has made a name for itself for being one of the best Android manufacturers out there offering up relatively cheap, but stable, handsets.

Unfortunately for the company, its devices have supported primarily GSM-based networks, which has left Verizon customers out of the loop. But that is finally changing. BLU has confirmed this week that the X1+ and X1 both support Verizon Wireless’ network, which means potential customers who are interested in getting an unlocked handset for relatively cheap can do just that with BLU’s options.

The flagship model is the X1+, which features a 6.2-inch display, a MediaTek Helio P60 processor clocked at 2.0GHz, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of built-in storage. There is a microSD card slot for expandable storage, 3050mAh battery, a 16MP front-facing camera, and a 16MP rear camera. The BLU X1+ is running Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

The X1+ is available Best Buy in the United States, priced at $249.99 (with same-day activation) or $299.99 if you activate later.

Meanwhile, the BLU X1 is priced at $149.99 with same-day activation or $199.99 with later activation. It features 5.2-inch display, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of built-in storage, and a microSD card slot. There is a 5MP front-facing camera and a 16MP camera on the back, with Android 8.1 Oreo available out of the box.

Both handsets are getting updated to Android 9 Pie at some point in the near future.

This is a milestone moment for BLU, getting support for Verizon’s network for two handsets. It will be interesting to see if it helps the company gain any ground in the U.S. mobile market.
