When HTC initially unveiled their new flagship device for 2014, the One (M8), they did so with a flurry of colors: silver, gun metal gray and gold. Quite the slate, but one of the more popular colors from the previous generation’s days apparently missed the cut. According to a new leak, that could be changing.
Last year, when HTC launched the original One (now called the One (M7)), they did so with two color options: silver/white and black. For many, that latter version was the best option, and those same people were probably disappointed when HTC unveiled the device’s successor without that color option available. Instead, we got silver, gold and gun metal gray. That could be changing soon, though, as a new leak suggests HTC may be bringing a new/old color scheme to bat.
Prolific leaker @evleaks has revealed what is being called the black version of the HTC One (M8). Staring at the image, though, does make it look a little bit like the Sprint-exclusive Harman Kardon edition released not too long ago in the United States. That model had a black-and-gold aesthetic, with a white face. Which is why it’s unfortunate we can’t see the face of this particular device.
Of course, it isn’t unheard of for HTC to release the same device at a later date with a different color. They did it enough with the One (M7) last year, and has already released a red version of the One (M8) as well.
Would you buy the black version of the One (M8) if HTC launched it?
