The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, the most anticipated and probably among the most major Android devices of this year, have now started making their way into the hands of customers across the world. With their all-glass design and a bezel-less Infinity Display at the front, Samsung’s flagship handsets are quite a looker. Their beautiful design, however, also makes it a must to use a case to protect them from dings and drops.
With glass panels at the front and back, it will just be a matter of one unlucky drop to shatter the panels or scratch it badly. The Infinity Display especially is prone to shattering easily due to the lack of bezels surrounding it.
Since the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are among the more popular Android devices in the market, there are plenty of cases available for them as well. If you are in the market for one, check out a few of our recommendations below.
Samsung
If you are looking for some quality cases for your Galaxy S8 or S8+, I will highly recommend you to check out Samsung’s own cases for its devices. The Korean company offers a variety of cases for its devices to fit everyone’s taste and liking. Some of the cases are of objectionable quality and are definitely overpriced, but they will offer more than ample protection for your precious new flagship device.
While Samsung’s LED view cover for the Galaxy S8 offers some nice functionality, it is highly unreliable and stops working after a few months. I’d recommend you to spend your money on Samsung’s Clear Cover or Silicone Cover for its flagship devices.
Spigen
If you are looking for some quality third-party cases for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+, look no further than Spigen’s offering. Their cases remain among the most premium and well-built ones in the market. What makes the whole thing even better is that Spigen is offering its cases for the Galaxy S8 and S8+ in a bunch of different styles and variety to suit your taste and style.
While the cases are slightly on the expensive side, you cannot go wrong with any of them. My personal favorite Spigen cases are the Ultra Hybrid and the Thin Fit series. The former features a hybrid design with a TPU bumper for added protection. The back is transparent thereby allowing you to show off your Galaxy S8’s rear glass panel in all its glory. Then, there is the Thin Fit series with its minimal footprint that still manages to offer enough protection against dings and drops.
You can go through Spigen’s full collection of its cases for the Galaxy S8 over on their official website, though if you are planning on buying one, make sure to check out Amazon as the cases are available at lower prices there.
Cover-up
If you are looking for a case as unique as your Galaxy S8, Cover-up’s wooden cases should suit your taste. Available in 14 (!) different wooden finishes, the rear of the case is made from real wood. This gives them a unique look and feel that no other case in the market offers. While the cases do hide the beautiful rear design of the Galaxy S8, they offer more than ample protection against drops and dings to make up for it.
Ringke Fusion
If you somehow did not like Spigen’s Ultra Hybrid case, have a look at Ringke’s Fusion case. The basic premise of the case is the same: it features a polycarbonate body and a TPU bumper to offer the best of both worlds. The bumper will offer ample protection to the phone in case of an unfortunate drop, while the polycarbonate body lets the design of the phone shine through.
The case is available for a relatively low price of $11.99 on Amazon in three different colors for the bumper: Rose Gold, Clear, and Smoke Black.
Dbrand
I am not a fan of cases. They make a device bulky and hide their beautiful design. This is especially true on the Galaxy S8 and S8+ with their beautiful glass design and Infinity Display at the front. If you are careful with your phone and are only looking for some basic protection against dings, you should have a look at skins from Dbrand.
Dbrand skins don’t offer much in terms of protection, though they do a good enough job of protecting the rear glass panel from shattering due to a fall and from getting scratched as well. Dbrand skins are available in a bunch of colors and materials, and you can mix ‘n’ match them according to your liking as well. I have been using Dbrand skins on my devices right from the Nexus 4 and have never been disappointed with them.
