The Galaxy Note 7 follows an all-glass design language that Samsung first debuted with the Galaxy S6 in 2015. While the company has refined the design further with the Note 7, you are ultimately still getting an aluminium chassis sandwiched between curved Gorilla Glass from the front and rear.

This makes using a case on the Galaxy Note 7 a must since there is always a risk of the rear glass shattering during a fall. And even if it does not, it can (and probably will) get scratched easily in day-to-day usage, which would ultimately spoil the whole look of the handset. So, if you have already gotten your hands on the Note 7 or have pre-ordered it and are now looking for some cases for it, check out some of our recommendations below.

Spigen Neo Hybrid

Spigen is one of the most renowned case makers out there, and it is also among the first companies to start offering premium quality cases for the Galaxy Note 7 even before its retail launch in key markets fo the world.

If you are looking for maximum protection for your precious new Galaxy Note 7 while adding minimal bulk to it, the Spigen Neo Hybrid is worth a try. The bumper style case features a polycarbonate frame that absorbs impacts during falls but still allows you to have a feel of the ergonomic design of the handset. The case has a Military Grade Drop certification, so you definitely cannot go wrong with it.

Even better, Spigen offers the case in four different colors — the same color schemes in which Samsung offers the Galaxy Note 7. This way, you can get the case in the same color as your Note.

Dbrand skin

Not a fan of cases, but still looking for something to protect the rear glass of the Note 7 from scratches? Have a look at vinyl skin wraps from Dbrand. Made from 3M vinyl, the skins are available in a variety of finish and are of very premium quality. And just like the phone, the skin is also waterproof so you can easily dunk the phone in water with the skin installed without worrying about damaging it.

The skin will provide the bare minimum protection to protect the rear glass from getting scratched and will also prevent it from getting cracked easily in daily usage. However, the metallic chassis of the phone will still remain prone to scuffs and dents from regular wear and tear and drops.

Nonetheless, if you truly want to enjoy the premium feel of your Galaxy Note 7, simply slap a Dbrand skin on its back.

Olixar Wallet Case

Samsung has gone all out with its edge screen with the Galaxy Note 7. Unlike the last year or so, the company is only offering its flagship Note with an edge screen. Most traditional wallet cases for the Note 7 will do little to show the curved screen of the handset. The Olixar Leather-Style case, however, has a cut-out at the very end that lets you have a peek at the edge screen of the device. This way, you can use the edge screen without having to open the case. On the flip side though, this means that the edge screen will not be protected against scratches and drops.

The wallet case houses multiple pockets that you can use to store your ID cards. It can also act as a stand so you can prop the phone up and use it to watch videos on long flights and journeys.

The only downside to this case is the lack of a sensor, which means that the screen on your Galaxy Note 7 will not automatically light up when you open the case.

Official Samsung Clear View and LED View Cover

If you want a quality flip case for the Galaxy Note 7 that comes with a sensor, your only option is to go for the official Clear View or LED View cover from Samsung. While you will find plenty of high quality wallet cases for the Galaxy Note 7 on Amazon and other websites, none of them will feature a magnetic sensor built-in. This means that you will have to manually switch on the display every time you flip open the cover — an added inconvenience, especially when you are using a flip case.

Note 7 LED View cover

While priced on the higher side, the official Clear View and LED View cover from Samsung are well built offer some unique features as well. You can receive incoming calls without having to flip open the case on both covers. Similarly, you can also check the time, notifications, and battery level without having to open both cases. The LED View cover also features a built-in pocket to hold your ID or credit card.

While Samsung also offers a cheaper S-View cover, its quality is pretty poor so it makes little sense in buying it.

Do note that many Galaxy S7 and S7 edge users had reported that their LED View cover stopped functioning properly after a few weeks of usage. At the moment, it is unclear if Samsung has solved the issue with its cases for the Galaxy Note 7 or not.
