Galaxy S9

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S9 and the S9+ a few days ago. Shortly after, the company announced that the SIM free versions of the handsets will be priced at $719.99 and $839.99 respectively. Best Buy USA has now announced a nifty promotion, pertaining to the carrier versions of the handset.

The retailer has announced that customers who pre-order either of the two handsets will get a discount of $100. However, there are a few terms and conditions here that the customers need to keep in mind. Firstly, the deal is only applicable on the 2nd of March, and only with carriers like AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon. The discount doesn’t apply to Sprint (Sprint Flex) models of the Galaxy S9.

Further, the discount will not be applied right away, but will be adjusted with your monthly payments. So you’re not saving a lot outright, but you’re still getting that money back in some way. It is said that this promotion is only valid on Best Buy’s American stores, and not across the border in Canada.

You can save an additional $350 by trading in an older device, effectively cutting $450 off the contract pricing. However, the discounts will vary depending on the phone you want to trade-in. For example, the iPhone 8 and Galaxy S8 models will fetch you the maximum discounts, while 2016 iPhones and the Galaxy S7 will probably return a discount of about $150 or lower. It’s not much, but still worth considering if you have an older flagship offering that needs replacing.

Have you zeroed in on a carrier for the Galaxy S9? Or are you going the SIM free way?
