Not to feel left out in all the MWC action, BlackBerry announced that it will begin rolling out a new update for BBM for Android with support for custom PINs, Subscriptions and more.
With this update, the BBM team is adding support for custom PINs to the messaging service. While users will be able to create any PIN they like, they have to follow certain guidelines like only using numbers and letters, and the length being anywhere between 6-8 characters. However, custom PINs are a paid feature and cost $1.99 per month.
Additionally, BBM users will be able to remove sponsored invites and ads from their feed by subscribing to the service for $0.99 per month. Subscribers will also get a badge on their avatar in BBM to show of their premium status.
The highlight of the update, however, is the support for Android Wear. This will allow Android Wear users to be able to receive BBM notifications on their watch and even reply to them in just a few swipes.
BlackBerry has also added the much requested support for sharing Photos in Group Chats with this update. The photos will be available under the Pictures section of the group, where members of the group will be able to like and comment on them.
The latest update for BBM for Android is slated to go live sometime today.
