Barnes and Noble effectively optioned off its efforts to build tablets awhile back, opting to instead slap the Nook branding on other tablets, like those from Samsung.

But a recent report has surfaced that outlines B&N’s return to the tablet game, with the Nook Tablet 7. The device just passed through the FCC gauntlet, and while it didn’t reveal every key detail, we did learn it has the following specs tucked inside:

MediaTek MTM8163 quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor with Mali-T720 MP2 graphics
3,000mAh battery
front and rear cameras
mico-USB port
microSD card slot

The big key addition here? Support for the Google Play Store, which obviously also means Android will be on board. Barnes & Noble ended its own digital app store not too long ago, so the inclusion of the Google Play Store makes sense.

According to Liliputing, B&N could be looking to put the Nook Tablet 7 in line with the $50 Amazon Fire Tablet, but there’s no guarantee on that just yet. A release date is unknown as well.
