Barnes & Noble has been working with Samsung for a bit of time now, launching brand new tablets meant to get the eReader experience to more people with tablets.
Last year saw the release of one tablet, and now the pair of companies are back with a brand new model. This new tablet is called the Galaxy Tab A NOOK, and it features a 7-inch display with a resolution of 1280×800. The rest of the specs are pretty straightforward, with a battery that will supposedly last up to 11 hours, and 8GB of built-in storage. There is a microSD card slot, though, which can hold a card up to 200GB for extra space to store content.
The Galaxy Tab A NOOK also features a 5-megapixel camera on the back, and a 2MP front-facing camera on the other side. It’s running Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box. It does have access to the Google Play Store, too, so owners can install Android apps.
As is usual, there are a few tweaks to the software, which Barnes & Noble hopes will make it easier than ever before to read books, magazines, newspapers, and more. The company is also including what it calls “B&N Readouts,” which will allow owners to read excerpts from books, magazines, and newspapers every morning, which are refreshed daily. There is also free in-store support for the tablet if the owner needs it.
Barnes & Noble is offering the Galaxy Tab A NOOK right now on its official website for $139.99.
