For its part, T-Mobile has been working hard on making some big changes in the wireless industry. The funny thing about it, is that it’s obviously working.
After the Magenta Network officially unveiled its Uncarrier 8.0 initiative, which ultimately revealed “Data Stash” and the ability for subscribers to essentially “roll over” any unused data into the next month, AT&T has decided that’s a good idea and announced a similar feature for its own subscribers. Indeed, on Wednesday, January 7, AT&T announced “Rollover Data,” which does exactly as it sounds: rolls over any unused data into the next month.
Of course, AT&T had a similar feature way back in the day when people used phones to actually call people. It was called Rollover Minutes, so this probably seems like something AT&T should have done ages ago.
In any event, Rollover Data works for any subscribers that are part of the Mobile Share Value plan, both existing and new. The fine print points out that customers’ rolled over data will expire in the next billing cycle, and that if a subscriber changes their plan in any way, the rolled over data will be taken away.
Rollover Data will begin on January 25, and it’s a free feature.
As important as data is these days, having Rollover Data just makes sense.
