At this year’s Consumer Electronics Show taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada, ASUS confirmed that the ZenFone Zoom would debut in the U.S. soon.
This year’s CES is notable, because it was at the CES in 2015 that ASUS officially unveiled the ASUS ZenFone Zoom, a smartphone running Android with a focus on the camera. According to ASUS, the ZenFone Zoom will launch in February of this year, and it will retail for $399. Unfortunately, the company isn’t coming clean about the phone’s specifications just yet.
However, we do know that the ZenFone Zoom features a 13-megapixel camera on the back, which is equipped with optical image stabilization (OIS), and a 3x optical zoom. The lens, according to ASUS, was manufactured by Hoya, a company that’s known for camera filters. The company does say they’ll announce the full spec sheet on January 20.
Until then, it’s reasonable to expect that this device will share many, if not all, of the major features found in the ZenFone 2, a high-end Android device. That would mean the ZenFone Zoom would boast a 5.5-inch 1080p HD display, an Intel quad-core processor under the hood, 4GB of RAM, and a battery measured in at 3000mAh. It should be offered in a 64GB or 128GB variant, but it supports microSD card slots up to 128GB.
For $399, what do you think of the ZenFone Zoom?
