ASUS, the company that gamers have known forever, but consumers are finally becoming familiar with thanks to the Nexus 7, has just revealed some shipment figures that are quite interesting. According to DigiTimes, ASUS shipped 3 million tablets during the first three months of 2013. They say the company has a goal of shipping 12 million tablets this year.

Pardon me for saying this, but that’s horrible. Apple managed to ship nearly 23 million iPads during the last three months of 2012. ASUS wants to ship half that in quadruple the amount of time.

Seriously?

The DigiTimes story also says ASUS has plans to ship one million smartphones in 2013, which is either a typo or a hilarious target. Then again, I did visit Taiwan earlier this year, the country ASUS calls home, and saw only one guy using a PadFone. Just one.
