YouTube Music is still more of a side perk to a ay Music subscription. But the app has slowly been adding in more features to make it a better companion for discovering sharing music.
It’s that latter feature that gets the focus in the version 1.46 update. Now you can share music that’s in your queued up list, so if there’s a song that you recognize want to send to a friend you don’t have to wait until it’s reached a turn to play.
It’s a minor change for YouTube Music, but small details like that can add up. According to Android lice there’s more on the way, as an A teardown reveals additional editing capabilities for your liked playlists. Right now they just are kind of there, without a lot of customization. The teardown indicates you’ll be able to edit, delete, share, possibly do more once an update hits.
The other reveal is the ability to pick a maximum resolution for videos when you’re on mobile data. It’s not here yet, but you can get the latest version of YouTube Music from ay or A Mirror.
The impact on you: This may not convert you away from Spotify, but small improvements are always welcome to ’s other music service. It still feels like there’s a lot of untapped potential given how pervasive music videos are on YouTube. In the meantime take YouTube Music for what it is: a part of a package that includes ay Music YouTube Red. The sum is definitely stronger than the parts.
