It’s the eternal question that we all face when it’s time for a new version of Android: when will I get it?

have the answer! ll, sort of. Android is a fragmented mess customized by many different smartphone makers, so finding out when exactly you’ll get Nougat depends on a lot of different factors.

However, a lot can be learned from previous updates as well as announcements leaks (see this research from for more about past update performance). Here’s what we know so far. ’ll continually refresh this piece once more details about Nougat updates become official.

Nexus

Android Nougat is available for ’s Nexus devices: the Nexus 6 5X, 6, 9, xel C tablet.

If you’re eagerly awaiting to get your hs on Android 7.1, you can join the Android Developer eview program. st as with Nougat 7.0 did, this will go through several iterations before a final build is ready.

Motorola

The Moto Z Moto Z Force are the first phones from the Motorola family to score Nougat. Motorola says the update is rolling out globally, which means it should hit the unlocked models soon. Don’t forget this also means that your phone will work with ’s Daydream View VR headset.

For those with the Verizon-bred model, keep an eye on the Verizon software page for when Big Red signs off on the update.

Motorola says that Nougat is still on tap for a number of other phones. You can check with Motorola’s update site to check in on your current phone. In a blog post, the company has pledged that Nougat will come to the following devices:

  • Moto G (4th Gen)
  • Moto G us (4th Gen)

Samsung

The long wait for Nougat is coming to an end. There’s an official beta program for the Galaxy S7 S7 ge if you don’t mind putting up with the usual string of bugs that accompany pre-release software.

The next phase of waiting is going to be for Samsung to finalize the update then send it out to the carriers for approval. That’s where the backlog tends to hit.

For example, the AT&T Galaxy Note 5 S6 ge+ received Marshmallow in ne 2016, a full eight months after the software’s release. On the other h, the international, unlocked versions got the update in February.

Samsung has had more success at delivering the monthly security updates, as there’s less room for carrier interference. If you have a Galaxy S6, S6 ge, S6 ge+ or Note 5 there’s a high likelihood you’ll get Nougat, but probably after it goes to the current flagships.

HTC

Nougat is coming to the unlocked model of the HTC 10. The company took to Twitter to proclaim the good news.

If you have an unlocked edition here in the U.S., keep an eye out for it. The company has also pledged to support existing models like the One M9, so there’s a decent shot you’ll see Nougat at some point in the future. The company tends to have a pretty good track record, it’s always worth following HTC vice president Mo Versi on Twitter, as he regularly tweets out software update information.

The Sprint-bred G5 is next in line for Nougat. A series of shared screenshots indicates a 1.3GB download is available that includes the November security patch. The only holdup now is the other carriers, which are likely in the approval stage of evaluating the software.

The  V20 on the other h arrived with Nougat aboard, delivering a solid phone for hardcore enthusiasts.  is showing some Nougat solidarity by featuring the V20 prominently on its Android Nougat page.

There’s more from on the Nougat front, with G5 owners in Korea able to test out the software through a new beta program. The good news for you is that gives a large user base to try out Nougat with, increasing the chances it will reach your G5 sooner.

The V10 is also sure to get Nougat, as the company has a pretty good track record of delivering software updates to older phones.

Sony

Sony offered some specific details about its own Nougat plans. The company said in a blog post that it will make Nougat available for the following: Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 emium, Xperia X, Xperia XA, Xperia XA Ultra  Xperia X rformance.

There was no timeframe provided for the updates, though Sony did promise, “new Sony features functionality” would come along for the ride. Usually that just means more bloatware needless software enhancements, but we’ll withhold judgment until we get to try it out for ourselves.

Huawei

Huawei’s Mate 9 is one of the few non-xel phones to run Nougat right out of the box, now the company is shedding some light on when its Android 7-based MEUI 5 update will make its way to its other phones. In all, the company plans to upgrade six of its phones to the new OS, most of which have been released this year: the Mate 8, , us, te, Nova,  Nova us. There’s no word on whether older devices will receive the update at a later date.

The company wasn’t too specific about when the first phones would be receiving the update, only saying to expect a release in the first quarter of 2017. It’s also unclear whether the Honor 8 will be included in the MEUI 5 rollout, though beta testers did receive an early look at the OS in late November.
