The summer months bring us something besides hot weather vacations: Nexus phone rumors.

So we’re kicking things off right with a new set of specs from Android lice, which we’ve found to be one of the more accurate sources for such leaks. First, let’s check out the rumored spec sheet of the device codenamed “Sailfish” ( picks creatures of the sea for its Nexus devices). (https://www.thisnation.com/) It’s the smaller presumably lower-end of the two rumored models:

  • 5” 1080p display (~440 I)
  • Quad-core 2.0 GHz, 64-bit processor (specific model not known)
  • 4GB RAM
  • 2770 mAh battery
  • 32GB storage (unknown what other storage options are)
  • 12Mrear camera, 8Mfront
  • Rear-mounted fingerprint scanner
  • B-C port
  • Bottom-firing speaker or speakers (unknown if dual)
  • Top-mounted headphone jack
  • Bluetooth 4.2

It all sounds reasonable, keeps in line with previous rumors that HTC would build two Nexus phones. Yet it’s not what’s on this spec list that is more interesting. ll the screen be AMOD or D? ll we have a plastic build like the Nexus 5X, a metal build like other HTC phones, or a glass back like a Galaxy or Nexus 4? Hopefully the rumor gods will bless us with more details before a fall launch.

During a recent interview, CEO Sundar chai said may do more with the software on Nexus devices to differentiate them beyond just what we think of as stock Android. ’s done this in the past with features like ambient display, there’s been rumors about free otos storage. So it’s worth watching to see what enhancements may bring.

y this matters: loved the Nexus 6/a>, but the 5X feels cheap I’ve experienced a lot of lag when multitasking. For many, the 6is in that too-big zone at 5.7 inches with a substantial bezel. If brings a solid mid-range high-end pair of phones this fall, along with some extra Nexus enhancements, they could be a tempting offer for those pondering a new phone.
