Sony may have accidentally outed a new smartwatch tablet ahead of the company’s product launches at the IFA tradeshow next month.
A picture posted to the Sony enthusiast site XperiaBlog shows a person sitting poolside with what is likely the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, wearing a smartwatch that doesn’t quite match the design of Sony’s current watches.
The aquatic venue may be an indication that the products will be water resistant, which is a common feature in Sony’s phones tablets.
Sony is joining Asus, Samsung, , others at the IFA event in Berlin to unveil new products.
The image was spotted on the company’s Facebook page removed shortly after it went live, though not before a quick-thinking reader grabbed a screenshot.
Unfortunately, the watch is unlikely to run Android ar as Sony has not signed up as an official partner, preferring to use its own propitiatory operating system to power its watches.
However, the company demonstrated some tepid interest in Android ar back in h, saying it would “evaluate opportunities” down the road.
ether that actually happens could depend on the success of the next wave of Android ar watches. If the Moto 360, newly discovered round watch, others grab more buyers, Sony may be encouraged to follow suit.
