Both Docs Sheets have just received rather sizable updates, bringing a ton of features editing capabilities to the table, together with some major interface changes. These updates are just starting to roll out, should hit your device in the coming days.
For Docs, all of the stard features you’ve come to expect are still present, along with a horde of others. The ability to edit rd documents (as well as export as rd) directly from the app is probably the most important change. This was feature was detailed during I/O last week, so it’s nice to see it become available so soon.
The sheer volume of new features included in the new Docs app is impressive, they give you enough options to easily take care of business on the go. th heavy control over text style of your document, there’s little need to use a computer with the productivity tools at your disposal here. In a very real sense, has crammed the most important parts of Quickoffice into Docs.
Need to dive deep into spreadsheets? Sheets has you covered. Users will get the ability to create, edit, export Excel spreadsheets with an all-new streamlined interface.
There’s now an always-available option to add functions to your sheet. You’ll also get much of the same control over text formatting found within the documents app.
Of course since both Docs Sheets are apps, multiple people can be working on the same document at the same time, with all changes saving automatically. Users can also work offline at any time have the document will save immediately when connected to the Internet.
Design-wise, both apps are getting closer to ‘s new Material Design aesthetic that will be coming to all of its services apps this fall. Both share a color-coated action bar (as they did before the update) the floating ‘add document’ option that just begs you to tap it.
