With Android 4.4 already being available in AOSP, nearly all the popular custom ROM developing teams have started working on porting their features to the latest version of Android. The AOKP (Android Open Kang Project) team today provided status update on its AOKP 4.3 and the upcoming 4.4 builds for the kanglings out there.

Firstly, before the team starts churning out AOKP 4.4 based builds, they will be releasing a super stable Milestone build for 4.3. Currently, half of the AOKP team is working on fixing the bugs and issues as reported by users, and as soon as they are fixed, a final build will be available for most of their supported devices. A few devices, however, won’t get the stable build because they will have a few unresolved bugs that threaten stability.

On Android 4.4, the AOKP team will be starting clean, with a re-organized internal structure and streamlined process so as to avoid the slow releases that plagued their 4.3 release. The side effect of this process will be that the first AOKP build will be pretty close to stock Android with just a few features. However, over time, the team would be able to port back most of their features with frequent updates.

As always, there are no ETAs provided by the team, so hold on to your horses and wait patiently.
