Reliable leaker Evan Blass (a.k.a @evleaks) says that Google will be launching Android Wear 2.0 on February 9th. This matches perfectly with the revised ‘early February’ timeline that Google had revealed to registered Google Play developers in an email.
Android Wear 2.0 was initially supposed to be released by the end of 2016 but Google delayed the launch into 2017. It is likely that we will see Google unveil its two new smartwatches alongside the release of Android Wear 2.0. One of them is rumored to be manufactured by LG and will feature a heart rate sensor, LTE, and GPS connectivity.

Android Wear 2.0 will come with a number of new features like interactive watch face complications, new UI that is easier to navigate, handwriting recognition, Smart Reply, and an on-screen keyboard. It will also introduce standalone apps to the OS that don’t need access to their companion smartphone app to work. At the low-level, the OS will introduce support for LTE connectivity allowing for smartwatches to function properly even when they are not connected to a smartphone. Other major features being introduced with the update include Google Assistant and Android Pay, though Google is yet to demo them.
Google has already confirmed the list of smartwatches that will receive the Android Wear 2.0 update.
