If Gigaom sources are to be believed, Google is all set to take over your living room once again with Android TV, which it will announce at its I/O conference next month. Unlike Google TV, Android TV is not going to be another piece of hardware.

Instead, it is going to be a platform which manufacturers will pre-loaded on their TVs and set-top boxes, allowing them to bring a bevy of streaming services to your living room. Initially, the service is going to focus on online media streaming services like Hulu Plus and Netflix along with the ability to play Android games.

The highlight of Android TV is going to be its UI, which is internally being called Pano. The UI will allow apps to show information right on your homescreen in a card-like layout, allowing users to browse interesting content as soon as they turn on their Android TV powered television or set-top box. The leaked Android 4.4.3 change-log also had a lot of references to Pano and the UI  (as seen above) matches up with what The Verge had leaked back in April.

Previous leaks about Android TV suggested that the platform will also support voice-based commands and show the notifications of your Android device on the TV.

With Google I/O less than a month away, expect more details about Android TV to make its way to the Internet.
