Android Q

During the opening keynote of I/O 2019, Google announced that the third beta of Android Q will be available on a total of 21 phones from 13 different OEMs. Apart from the Pixels, Google is expanding the Android Q beta program to devices from Huawei, Sony, Xiaomi, and others.

Excluding the Pixels, 15 Android phones from third-party OEMs are going to be a part of the Android Q beta 3 program. The full list of supported devices is as follows:

  • ASUS ZenFone 5z
  • OnePlus 6T
  • Xiaomi Mi 9
  • Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G
  • Nokia 8.1
  • LG G8
  • Essential Phone
  • Huawei Mate 20 Pro
  • Sony Xperia XZ3
  • OPPO Reno
  • Tecno Spark 3 Pro
  • Realme 3 Pro
  • Vivo X27
  • Vivo NEX S
  • Vivo NEX A

Interestingly, Samsung — the world’s largest Android OEM — is missing from the list for the second year in a row. While Samsung has stepped up its game in quickly rolling out software updates to its flagship devices, it is yet to take part in any of Google’s beta program.

Huawei joins the list this year with its impressive Mate 20 Pro from last year. Smaller OEMs like Tecno and Realme are also a part of the beta program this year showing how serious they are about future Android updates.

Depending on the device you own, the installation steps for Android Q beta 3 will vary. It will be tedious for sure and involve completely wiping the phone so keep that in mind before going ahead.
