About a month ago, Google officially released the third developer preview for Android N — the next version of its mobile operating system, set to release to the public later this year.
With Developer Preview 3, Google said the software was stable enough for developers to try out on their daily drivers, and now the software is one step closer to being ready to go for the public. Google has released Developer Preview 4 to testers, and has at the same time released the final APIs for the software, along with the final SDK.
With those two final builds, Android N is nearing the state it needs to be in for the final release. On top of that, it means developers and get their apps ready for the public release as well.
The Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus Player, Pixel C, Nexus 9, General Mobile 4G, and the Sony Xperia Z3 all support the developer builds right now, so if you have one of these devices and are already signed up for the beta, you’ll get an over-the-air (OTA) notification that the new software is available to download. Developer Preview 4 is build NPD56N, and it should be available now.
