Android M

Unlike the Android L developer preview, Google will be releasing OTA updates for the Android M developer preview that it released last night.

The company has also mentioned on its website that it will be rolling out two more preview builds of Android M before its final SDK is released “later in Q3.” One preview update is expected to be released in late June/early July, while the third preview build — that will be “near final” — will be released in late July.

Google will be releasing updated factory images as well as roll out OTA updates for Nexus devices that are running the preview build to make the update process easier for users.

Google has traditionally launched an update to Android in the Q4 of every year, but looks like the company has tweaked its release schedule this year. If Android M drops in Q3 of this year, it is likely that we sill see the new Nexus handsets being launched around the same timeframe as well.
