We already know that Google will be unveiling Android M at its I/O conference later this week. However, not much is known about the next version of Android except that it will come with a fingerprint authentication API and a permissions manager.
Now, according to the sources of Android Police, Google is focusing on battery life improvements and the reduction in RAM usage with Android M. Google has been working on improving the battery life of Android devices with every Android update, but up until now, its efforts have gone in vain.
This time around though, Google is urging its team to cut down on location check-ins from Play Services, reduce the screen off activities, and more to preserve battery life and to cut down on RAM usage.
Additionally, the source of Android Police also reveals that Google will be releasing a developer preview build of Android M at I/O, with its final version slated to release sometime in August.
Google will be talking about the steps it has taken to improve battery life in Android M in Google I/O later this week.
Google promised battery life improvements with Lollipop as well, but the update instead did the opposite. Whether it is able to finally deliver with Android M or not, is something that only time will tell.
