Samsung has already updated devices like the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy S4 to the latest and greatest version of Android, and now the company seems to have finally turned its attention to its 2012 flagships. According to SamMobile, the Android 4.4 KitKat update has begun rolling out to the international variant of the Galaxy Note 2 in France, via Samsung’s desktop PC suite Kies.
Sporting build number N7100XXUFND3, the update is expected to bring the usual KitKat features to the second-generation Samsung phablet. These include smoother UI performance, white status bar icons, support for wireless printing, advanced location control, inbuilt options for selecting the default SMS and launcher apps, full-screen album art, and improved overall stability. Battery life should be getting a boost as well, though given the extent of changes the Korean manufacturer makes to Android, some of these features might not be as visible as they’d be on a less bloated version of the OS.
As tradition would dictate, the update won’t be immediately available on every device and in every region as the rollout is gradual, but you can always do a manual check in the Settings » About phone » Software update menu if you’re unwilling to wait.
